The Student visa, subclass 500, allows eligible international students to study an eligible course in Australia. Your application needs to explain your study plans and meet the requirements relevant to your circumstances.

For eligible study in Australia. Enrolment and a valid Confirmation of Enrolment at decision, Overseas Student Health Cover unless exempt, and other applicable criteria must be addressed.

What is the Genuine Student requirement?
You must demonstrate that study is your primary reason for applying. Home Affairs considers your circumstances and gives more weight to claims supported by evidence.
Can I work while studying?
Work rights are subject to visa conditions. Check your grant letter and VEVO for the conditions that apply to you.
Can a parent accompany a younger student?
An eligible adult may consider the Student Guardian visa. Eligibility, support arrangements, funds and insurance are assessed separately.
