UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS
Advice for your circumstances.
A skills assessment checks your skills against the standards for a nominated occupation. The relevant assessing authority conducts the assessment, and its requirements depend on the occupation and purpose.
A skills assessment is a migration service, not a visa. It does not itself provide permission to travel, work or remain in Australia. We help identify the relevant authority and organise supporting documents for the pathway you are considering.
THE PATHWAYS
What your assessment needs.
Occupation & authority
Consider your qualifications and actual duties against the nominated occupation. Use the assessing authority linked to that occupation.
Evidence & assessment purpose
Check whether the authority offers different assessment types and which outcome is suitable for the proposed visa pathway.
Timing & validity
Check the assessment's validity and the requirements that apply at the visa or invitation stage.
HOW WE HELP
A thoughtful plan. Clear next steps.
- Identify the relevant authority and assessment purpose.
- Review your proposed occupation and supporting documents.
- Help organise qualifications and employment evidence.
- Explain how the assessment fits the next migration stage.
BEFORE WE TALK
Prepare for your consultation.
You do not need every document ready to make an enquiry. For a detailed consultation, the following can help us understand your position.
- Passport, CV, qualifications and academic transcripts.
- Detailed employment references describing your duties.
- Contracts, payslips or tax evidence where the authority requires them.
- Existing assessment outcomes and any requested translations or additional evidence.
COMMON QUESTIONS
A little more clarity.
Does every visa require a skills assessment?
No. Assessments are mandatory for some subclasses and streams, and may be requested for others. The proposed pathway determines the requirements.
Can I choose any assessing authority?
No. The relevant authority is linked to the nominated occupation.
Does a positive assessment guarantee a visa?
No. It addresses one part of a pathway. Invitation, nomination and other visa requirements may still apply.
