UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

Advice for your circumstances.

General Skilled Migration includes independent, state nominated and regional pathways for eligible skilled workers. Your nominated occupation, skills assessment, English, age, points and personal circumstances affect the available options.

We review the evidence behind your points claims and help you plan the next stage. An Expression of Interest (EOI) is not a visa application and does not itself give you permission to remain in Australia.

THE PATHWAYS

A closer look at your options.

01

Skilled Independent · 189

A permanent pathway for invited applicants in the points-tested stream.

02

Skilled Nominated · 190

A permanent pathway requiring nomination by an Australian state or territory.

03

Skilled Work Regional · 491

A provisional regional pathway requiring state or territory nomination, or sponsorship by an eligible relative.

04

Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) · 191

A possible later pathway for eligible regional provisional visa holders who meet its requirements.

HOW WE HELP

A thoughtful plan. Clear next steps.

  • Review occupation and pathway options.
  • Assess evidence supporting your proposed points claims.
  • Explain skills assessment, EOI and nomination stages.
  • Prepare an agreed application after the relevant invitation or nomination requirements are met.

BEFORE WE TALK

Prepare for your consultation.

You do not need every document ready to make an enquiry. For a detailed consultation, the following can help us understand your position.

  • Qualifications, employment history and details of your nominated occupation.
  • English results and any skills assessment.
  • Current visa details and evidence relevant to the points you intend to claim.
  • Existing EOIs, nomination applications or correspondence.
Bring documents to your consultation when requested. Please leave passport numbers and sensitive documents out of the initial enquiry form.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Does meeting the points threshold guarantee an invitation?

No. Meeting the minimum threshold does not guarantee an invitation. Selection and nomination requirements must also be considered.

Is an EOI the same as a visa application?

No. An EOI expresses your interest. An invitation is required before applying for these points-tested skilled visas.

Can a regional visa lead to permanent residence?

Eligible regional provisional visa holders may have a subclass 191 pathway. The later visa requirements must be met.
